It is a liposuction method performed only in the lower part of the neck, under the midline chin.
Detailed medical history is taken, patient examination, expectations of the patient, information about the surgery, and photographing before the procedure. The areas where fat will be taken are determined. The elasticity of the patient’s skin is checked an the incision sites for the surgery are determined.
It can be performed under general anesthesia or under local + sedation. If it is a single area procedure and takes approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour. Approximately half an inch of incision is made from the sub-chin groove. At first, special liquids prepared for liposuction are injected into the fat layer. The purpose of this is pain reducing and bleeding control. First, laser or ultrasound energy is given through the incision. Fat cells are broken down and then easily aspirated.
Drain is not applied. The patient is discharged on the same day. There may be pain, swelling and bruising 3-4 days following the surgery. The patient is allowed to take a bath within two days. The special bandage is worn for 1 week. You can return to work in 5-7 days. Heavy activities are allowed after 3 weeks.

Once the surgery is done, a soft headwrap will be placed. It is highly recommend to rest for about a week, during this time you will be prescribed medications to ease the pain you may experience and some antibiotics to ease the infection. You should also use compression dressing, and surgical vitamins to reduce swelling and bruising, in addition to speeding up your recovery time.
You will need to return to the office the day after your surgery for a follow-up. After the fourth or fifth day, you should notice any discomfort is significantly reduced. It will take about 6 weeks for the wounds to reach half their full strength. After this period, you may return to any vigorous activities.
The normal schedule for follow-up visits usually takes place the day after surgery, then 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and then once a year after. If you have any concerns, you may always come in more frequently if necessary.
How long does neck liposuction last?The removal of fatty tissue from the neck is a permanent change. Of course, significant overall weight gains, weight loss, aging, etc will continue to affect the results, but during a liposuction procedure, some (not all) of the fat cells are permanently removed.
